Hello! As many of you know, I am a student intern at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC. This is my last task towards the completion of my undergraduate career and the last step in receiving my teaching certification. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful partnership teacher and great students in my two classes. I am teaching, first and second block, English IV (Honors and regular), which means I have seniors! After finally getting over the shock of answering to "Ms. Locke," I think I have settled in nicely to the teaching position. It's been quite the adjustment, but I am having fun through it all and learning a lot about my strengths and weaknesses as an educator.
The main purpose of this blog is to keep everyone (friends, family, and students) up to speed throughout the last third of my internship. I will be departing for Belize in about two and a half weeks... which has not quite hit me yet. It is bittersweet to be leaving, as cliche as it sounds, becuase I am just settling in with my students and my place here at Hoggard... but come on, it's Belize! I am excited to share my experiences with everyone and doubly excited to see how this experience develops my skills as a teacher.
Hello Ms. Locke! I hope you are having a wonderful time in Belize. I miss you so much and I really hope you come back to our class to visit. You haven't really missed all that much. We did our mid term speeches and then we read Beowulf....yep I think that's it. The "yeah ok" has stopped believe it or not, but I bet it will start back up when you come back. Haha. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying yourself. I know you are teaching great things to your other students.

LOCKNESS!! I miss your face. I also didn't know you had a blog. I guess you told the class the day Voyagers was gone. So, I really hope that all is well. I bet your are a tan godess now that your in Belize. Rock it girl. But I really do miss you and I hope to see you when you come back. I am really exctied that you get to experience going to another country and working with people outside the US. I am totes jel. (Jealous) Finally, I am really excited to follow your blog now that I know you have one. You have inspired to re-open mine and try and right stuff!! Hopefully I will see you sooner than later!

Kaitlyn is kind of bummed since she hasn't gotten to draw a self-portrait of anyone. Anyway you need to come back soon so we can have another fiesta!!!! AY YI YI!(Figure it out)...I hope you are having a great time! How is that espanol coming along? Te gusta los estudiantes? Probably not as much as us :)...We rocked out our senior project speeches because your great speech-making powerpoint! Have a wonderful time! We miss you!

hey Ms.locke how are you this is your favorite student jerry =P you know we miss you and yes i am giving ms.phillps a very very very very very very very very very very very hard time lol. nothing has changed really i hope your enjoying the weather down there or over there or what ever dont go to the beach there are anacondas in the water hate to c you gett bittin an im still doin the segment of interns revealed lol. its gotten very interesting. senior project YUCK it sucks

Hey Ms. Locke, this is TJ. A lot of us miss having you around. I hope you are enjoying your experience in Belize and I hope that you have a safe journey back to Wilmington soon. Senior project is still just, senior project. I dislike it, but I'm doing it anyway. I absolutely hate the British Literature we are reading in class right now. All I want to do is go to sleep. Well, I don't know what else to say except have a safe trip home and I hope to see ya back at Hoggard soon.
